A vibrant four-day Indian classical music festival is set to commence at Bengaluru's Chowdiah Memorial Hall on February 5. Organized by the city-based Bharatiya Samagana Sabha, this 17th edition of the annual event carries the theme "Purana Gitam." The festival will showcase a rich lineup of both established and emerging Carnatic musicians over its duration.
Each day will feature two distinct concert sessions. The evenings will highlight solo performances by acclaimed vocalists such as Sivasri Skandaprasad on February 5, Sandeep Narayan on February 6, and Harisankar on February 7. The renowned Ranjani-Gayatri duo is slated to perform on February 8. The first sessions will include a vocal concert by Dhanya Dinesh Rudrapatnam and a classical ensemble led by violinist Apoorva Krishna.
During the festival, the Bharatiya Samagana Sabha will also present its annual awards. Violin virtuosos Ganesh and Kumaresh will receive the prestigious Samagana Mathanga Award. Additionally, young Carnatic vocalist Spoorthi Rao will be honored with the Samagana Vasantha Award on the evening of February 7, recognizing their contributions to the genre.
