Film Stars Demand Action on Cyber Harassment

Members of the Bengali film industry convened with Kolkata Police on Monday, specifically at Lalbazar, to request intervention against escalating cyber-crime incidents. The delegation highlighted issues such as online bullying, personal attacks, and harassment directed at artistes and film productions.

Key figures like actors Jisshu U Sengupta and Abir Chatterjee, along with filmmakers Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Srijit Mukherji, were present. They specifically raised concerns about a recent film's online ratings being allegedly manipulated on a major ticketing platform, causing a significant score drop shortly after its release.

The industry seeks robust investigations and stronger online protections. Representatives emphasized that this initiative aims to safeguard the dignity and security of everyone involved in the film sector, with a formal complaint already filed regarding the rating manipulation.
