The West Bengal government has sanctioned Rs 344.2 crore for the construction of the Mahakal Mahatirtha temple complex at Matigara in Siliguri. This represents the largest allocation for a temple complex within the state.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for this significant project on January 16. The complex, to be executed by HIDCO, will be situated on a 17.4-acre plot and is envisioned to house a substantial Shiva idol and a convention centre.
