Summary
- Ben Shephard sold his Richmond house for £5.3M, a £2.35M profit.
- His new £3.5M home was formerly a bishop's official residence.
- The new property has access challenges for renovations.

TV presenter Ben Shephard has successfully sold his Richmond property for £5.3 million, marking a significant profit of £2.35 million since his 2016 purchase. This move comes as the family upgrades to a new £3.5 million residence, formerly the official home of a bishop, located in an idyllic riverside setting in west London.
Despite the allure of their new, larger home, Shephard faces considerable hurdles with renovations. The Grade II listed building lacks a driveway and rear access, with the only entry point being a small front gate. This restricted access is anticipated to create difficulties for architects and builders attempting to modernize the property.
The property boasts a rich history, having been the family home of tea magnate Thomas Twining for seven generations before being bequeathed to the church. It later served as a vicarage and then a bishop's residence. While the lack of easy access is a "headache," Shephard and his wife are reportedly thrilled with the house overall, viewing it as a potential project.
