Ben Affleck shared a startling childhood encounter on Kerry Washington's podcast, "Street You Grew Up On." While walking home from high school at age 14, Affleck was cornered by two individuals wearing hoods who demanded his money at knifepoint. He recognized the youths as older boys he knew from playing baseball in his Cambridge, Massachusetts neighborhood.
This recognition led the attackers to release him, an outcome not shared by another victim. Affleck revealed that one of the teenagers who robbed him later fatally stabbed someone and subsequently served a 20-year prison sentence. Affleck described his upbringing on Cottage Street as working-class, where a sense of struggle and potential violence was familiar.
