Ben Affleck recently shared that he actively campaigned for Los Angeles mayor as his character Mark Kimball to prepare for his role in the upcoming Netflix film 'Animals.' This unique preparation method, which involved interacting with voters and discussing their concerns, led Affleck to jokingly exclaim he was close to winning.
Affleck co-directs and stars in 'Animals,' a thriller where his character's son is kidnapped. The film, co-written by Affleck, Connor O. McIntyre, and Billy Ray, also features Kerry Washington as his wife, Abigail. The real-life campaign experience underscored for Affleck the demanding nature of politics, particularly the constant need for fundraising.
Beyond his film role, Affleck expressed skepticism about current politics, suggesting that public expectations have lowered significantly. He believes many people feel disillusioned and that the broader political system is not serving the public effectively, regardless of individual political affiliations.
