Beloved Kannada Actor Raju Talikote Dies at 62 After Heart Attack

On October 12th, 2025, the Kannada entertainment industry suffered a tragic loss with the passing of popular actor and comedian Raju Talikote. The 62-year-old artist, who was serving as the Director of Dharwad Rangayana, died after suffering a heart attack during a film shoot in Udupi, Karnataka.

Talikote, born in 1963 as Rajesab Maktumsab Yankanchi, had a long and distinguished career in both theatre and cinema. He grew up in Talikote and followed in the footsteps of his parents, who were both theatre artists. Despite facing hardships early in life, Talikote continued his family's theatrical legacy and built a strong reputation for his stagecraft.

In addition to his work on the stage, Talikote appeared in several notable Kannada films, including "Manasare," "Pancharangi," and "Lifeu Ishtene." He was also known for his writing, having created plays for cassette recordings that achieved widespread popularity in the 1990s.

Talikote's sudden passing has left a significant void in the Kannada entertainment industry. Tributes have poured in from political and cultural leaders, who have praised his contributions and expressed their condolences to his family. The family has announced that the last rites will be held in Chikkasindagi village.
