In the upcoming Season 4 premiere of the firefighter drama Fire Country, the Cal Fire team is set to face a heartbreaking loss. Vince Leone, the beloved Station 42 battalion chief, died in a building collapse caused by the devastating Zabel Ridge fire in the Season 3 finale.
The show's creators, Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, have revealed that they made the difficult decision to kill off Vince's character in order to be "truthful to the work" that firefighters do and to shake up the show and its characters. They felt it was time for the show to experience a significant loss, which would "force them to really reassess where they were and what they were doing."
