On November 29, the South Asian Symphony Orchestra (SASO) will present a grand performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. Conducted by Alvin Arumugam, the concert will feature a remarkable ensemble of 120 musicians at the Prestige Centre of Performing Arts.
Adding a unique cultural dimension, the evening will commemorate the centenary of the iconic actor and director Raj Kapoor. Audiences can anticipate newly commissioned orchestral arrangements of his beloved classic melodies, promising a delightful fusion of Western classical and Indian cinematic music.
Nirupama Rao, founder-trustee, highlighted the event's significance, stating that each performance is a celebration of the shared cultural and artistic heritage of South Asia. An orchestral adaptation of a composer Muttuswami Dikshitar's 'nottuswara' is also specially prepared for this occasion.
