The early 1960s in Hamburg's St. Pauli district serve as the backdrop for the new six-part drama series, "Hamburg Days." This series chronicles the formative years of The Beatles, depicting their collision with local artists and their eventual rise to global fame. Asa Butterfield and Jonny Lee Miller are among the newly announced cast members, taking on significant roles.
Butterfield will portray Beatles manager Brian Epstein, while Lee Miller will play Jim McCartney, Paul McCartney's father. The series, inspired by Klaus Voormann's autobiography, features actors portraying other key figures like Astrid Kirchherr, Cynthia Lennon, and band members including John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Production is currently underway in Hamburg.
"Hamburg Days" is being produced by W&B Television and Turbine Studios, with AGC International handling worldwide sales outside the UK and Germany. The BBC and ZDF have secured broadcasting rights for their respective territories. The series aims to capture the raw energy and transformative period that launched the Liverpool band into superstardom.
