The BBC Radio 6 Music Festival is set to take place in Newcastle from March 15-19, 2027. This vibrant event will utilize the city's independent and grassroots venues for five days of performances and DJ sets. Newcastle previously hosted the festival in 2015, and its cultural leaders believe the city has since evolved into a significant music hub.
This return follows a four-year residency in Greater Manchester. Newcastle's reputation as a music city has been bolstered by recent successes, including hosting the MOBO Awards in 2025 and the Mercury Prize for the second year in a row. Organizers highlight the city's rich musical legacy and its thriving creative community as ideal for the festival.
The 6 Music Festival, running since 2014, was once a traveling event before settling in Manchester. Its upcoming return to the North East is highly anticipated, promising a celebration of live music that resonates deeply with local culture and communities. The full lineup and venue details for the 2027 festival will be announced next year.
