The film saw a temporary increase on Independence Day, reaching Rs. 12.90 crores, but this momentum quickly faded during the weekdays. Projections suggest the lifetime earnings may struggle to surpass Rs. 45 crores.

Trade experts have offered various reasons for the film's underperformance. While some praised the direction and performances, noting the well-captured emotions between Shabana Azmi and Sunny Deol, others pointed to a disconnect with the audience. Specifically, portraying Sunny Deol as a Muslim Pakistani character and Shabana Azmi as a pious Hindu woman reportedly went against their established images.

Furthermore, the film's message of brotherhood was considered out of sync with the current public sentiment, which is perceived as more confrontational. This strategic misstep, described as swimming upstream, is believed to have contributed significantly to its box office crash, failing to translate potential interest into actual footfalls.
