The critically acclaimed Battlestar Galactica reboot is returning to screens later this month with a brand-new Blu-ray release scheduled for August 11. This comprehensive collection will feature the complete four-part series, spanning an impressive 21 discs and containing 4,171 minutes of content. Viewers can expect the series in stunning 1080p high definition, preserving its original 1.78:1 aspect ratio and enhanced audio quality.
Beyond the broadcast versions, this Blu-ray edition will include extended or alternate cuts of the series that originally aired between 2003 and 2012. The science fiction drama chronicled the harrowing journey of humanity's last survivors fleeing a devastating Cylon attack aboard the last remaining military ship. Their quest for survival led them on a search for a new home, the mythical Thirteenth Colony known as Earth.
The show, masterfully produced by Ronald D. Moore, explored the complex relationship between humans and Cylons, sentient machines that turned against their creators. The beloved cast included Edward James Olmos as Commander William Adama and Mary McDonnell as President Laura Roslin, among other memorable characters.
