Basque Thriller 'Under Your Feet' Poised for Spooky Tallinn Premiere

In the lead-up to the American Film Market (AFM), Spanish production company FilmSharks has expanded its slate by acquiring the world sales rights to Cristian Bernard's fantasy thriller 'Under Your Feet.' The film, which is set to have its world premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Festival on November 15, stars acclaimed actors Maribel Verdú and Sofia Otero.

Produced by Carlos Juárez of Basque Films and Guido Rud of FilmSharks, 'Under Your Feet' follows a family who move into a fancy apartment building that has a strange way of choosing its tenants. Despite the surprisingly low rent, the family soon finds their lives being upended by their three elderly neighbors from the floor below.

Described as an "atmospheric, classic horror story," the film was shot in Bilbao, Spain, taking advantage of the city's generous tax credits and the unique architectural setting. Talks are currently underway with buyers from various regions, including Latin America, the U.S., Japan, Korea, Russia, France, Taiwan, and German-speaking territories, with some deals expected to close shortly.

The release of 'Under Your Feet' in Spain is still under discussion, but the target is for the first quarter of 2026. With its blend of fantasy, adventure, and horror elements, the film is expected to appeal to audiences who enjoy stories reminiscent of beloved classics like 'The Goonies,' 'Super 8,' and the hit Netflix series 'Stranger Things.'
