Actor Barry Keoghan has shared his struggles with online bullying, revealing that the constant negativity has prompted him to withdraw from social media. He explained that the abuse, which often targets his appearance, is becoming a significant problem that could even deter him from wanting to be on screen. The "Saltburn" star expressed deep concern about the toll this takes on his mental well-being and his ability to focus on his craft.

Keoghan is also deeply troubled by the prospect of his three-year-old son reading disparaging comments about him in the future. This concern, coupled with escalating criticism following speculation about his personal life, led him to deactivate his Instagram account in early 2024. He cited "lies, hatred, and disgusting commentary" that had crossed numerous lines, impacting his family, his character, and even bringing his deceased mother into the attacks.
