Barbara Eden, the beloved star of the 1960s sitcom 'I Dream of Jeannie,' has offered fans an unprecedented look inside the show's iconic genie bottle. The 94-year-old actress shared a video showcasing the bottle's meticulously decorated interior, which served as her character Jeannie's home for 2,000 years before being released by Major Tony Nelson.
The video, created with the help of Tangible Dreams Entertainment, depicts the bottle's interior as a cozy living space, complete with lounges and cushions, though Eden noted that key items like the oil lamp and Major Nelson's portrait were absent. She explained that the set was designed with an open side for filming cameras and lights. The series, which aired from 1965 to 1970, celebrated its 60th anniversary in September 2025.
Eden recounted humorous and memorable experiences filming inside the elaborate bottle sets, including an instance where she was accidentally left inside during a lunch break. Beyond the show's nostalgia, Eden revealed the profound impact the genie bottle had on fans, with many sharing how pretending their rooms were bottles helped them through difficult childhoods. Demonstrating the enduring legacy of the show, Eden donated one of the genie bottles and her iconic pink costume to the Smithsonian.
