Barbara Eden, the beloved actress known for her role in 'I Dream of Jeannie,' recently withdrew from the Cinecon Classic Film Festival in Los Angeles due to unforeseen circumstances. The festival announced her absence was due to a "sudden illness" on Saturday, September 5. Eden was scheduled to be honored with the Cinecon Legacy Award at the event that evening.
However, the 95-year-old actress took to Instagram on Sunday, September 6, to clarify the situation. Eden explained that she was not suffering from an illness but rather experienced severe side effects from a new medication prescribed by her doctor. She assured her fans that she is "okay" and that this is a temporary "speedbump."
Eden expressed her apologies for the last-minute cancellation, noting the "awful timing." She stated her doctor ordered her to remain at home until the medication issue could be resolved. The Cinecon Classic Film Festival, celebrating its 62nd edition, took place from September 3 to September 7 at the Landmark Nuart Theatre. Other honorees included Nancy Kwan, Anna Maria Alberghetti, and Lainie Kazan.
