Bankura Fair Erupts in Chaos During Actor Jeet's Performance

A fair in Bankura's Bishnupur was marred by chaos and violence on Saturday night, occurring during actor Jeet's scheduled performance. The sheer volume of attendees, drawn from across the district, overwhelmed the venue's arrangements, escalating into a dangerous situation.

The situation rapidly devolved as pushing and jostling turned violent, with parts of the crowd breaking through barricades near the stage. This resulted in the destruction of hundreds of chairs, including those designated for senior citizens and women. Nearby shops also suffered damage, with reports of cash being looted and banners torn down.

Authorities intervened with a lathi-charge to regain control and disperse the agitated crowd, leading to alleged injuries among spectators. While several individuals were detained, they were later released. The performance itself concluded, with Jeet and his team completing their act and departing safely amidst the disarray.
