Initially celebrated for her sacrifice, the teen's life is complicated by the unexpected attention and the falsehoods that begin to surround the event.
Director Choi Hyunyoung is developing this project, inspired by a personal tragedy from her youth. She aims to delve into the lasting impact of major events on individuals and society, focusing on survival and perception rather than the disaster itself.
The film, currently in its fourth screenplay draft with support from the Korean Film Council, is seeking co-producers and financiers at the Busan International Film Festival's Asian Contents & Film Market.
Producers Jeon Jiseong and Kwon Mizy are collaborating with Choi, drawn to the premise's depth and the story's exploration of complex questions. They hope to secure international partners who appreciate the story's cultural specificity and global appeal.
