Summary
- Actor criticizes modern Malayalam film titles for lack of creativity.
- Menon claims jury interference cost his film Samantarangal awards.
- He will appear next in Nivin Pauly's thriller 'Prathichaya'.

Veteran actor and filmmaker Balachandra Menon has expressed strong disapproval of contemporary Malayalam film titles, questioning their creativity and impact on audiences. Menon feels many recent titles leave him amused, citing examples like 'Aashaan' and 'Bha. Bha. Ba,' and wonders about the filmmakers' intentions. He believes effective titles are crucial for drawing viewers to theaters.
Menon also brought up a long-standing issue concerning his 1997 film 'Samantarangal,' expressing disappointment over its alleged snub from major National Awards. He recounted how a jury member from Kerala reportedly opposed its consideration for top honors, including best film and best actor for Menon himself. This opposition, Menon stated, changed the award outcomes.
Despite the alleged interference, 'Samantarangal' did achieve recognition at the 1997 National Film Awards, securing honors for Best Actor for Balachandra Menon and Best Film on Family Welfare. Looking ahead, the veteran actor is slated to feature in Nivin Pauly's upcoming thriller titled 'Prathichaya.'
