The BAFTA-winning animated short film, 'Two Black Boys In Paradise,' is a nine-minute cinematic adaptation of a poem by British writer Dean Atta. The narrative centers on Eden and Dula, two boys in love who grapple with societal perceptions and authority.
Filmed in Manchester, the production demanded 18 months of work, equating to two months per minute of screen time. Despite its claymation style, the film carries a 15 certificate, indicating content that becomes more graphic than initially suggested.
The short was also recognized by the Iris Prize, an LGBTQ+ film competition established in 2006. It offers a blend of harsh urban reality and a lush, dreamlike 'eden' where the protagonists find joy.
The film is currently available for viewing on Channel 4.
