Badshah Drops Marathi Hip-Hop Debut 'Chimna'

Rapper-entrepreneur Badshah has officially entered the Marathi hip-hop scene with his debut track, 'Chimna.' This release is a high-octane celebration of Maharashtrian culture and community, designed to resonate across generations. The song masterfully reimagines traditional Marathi folk textures into a fresh, contemporary global soundscape.

The accompanying music video was filmed entirely on location in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. It captures the vibrant pulse of local everyday life, from wedding processions to street scenes and traditional mud wrestling training. Marathi actress Neha Khan makes a notable appearance in the video.

To ensure cultural authenticity, Badshah collaborated with Bollywood singer Divya Kumar and Marathi folk icon Nagesh Morwekar. The track, produced by Hiten, fuses indigenous folk elements with Badshah's commercial appeal. 'Chimna' features traditional folk poetry intertwined with hip-hop verses, beginning with a classic rural hookline and ending with Badshah proclaiming, 'Tumcha mulga Badshah' (Your boy Badshah).

Badshah expressed his intention to celebrate India's regional music, calling 'Chimna' a love letter to Maharashtra's creative landscape. This release marks his expansion into Western India, reinforcing his thesis of 'different roots, one culture.' The song is available on all major streaming platforms.
