The entire Bacon-Sedgwick family, including Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, and their children Sosie and Trevor, are leading a film together for the first time. Titled "Family Movie," the comedy-horror flick follows a fictional family in the movie business. Premiering on March 13 at the SXSW Film & TV Festival, the film was a surprise endeavor.
Kyra Sedgwick admitted she was nervous pitching the idea to Sosie and Trevor, expecting them to decline. However, both children enthusiastically agreed, marking a significant moment for the family. Sosie confessed to having reservations about potential arguments while filming, a concern shared by Trevor.
Despite initial trepidation, the actual filming process defied their expectations, becoming a highly collaborative and pleasant experience. The family praised the supportive atmosphere, noting how easily they worked together and respected each other's creative input. They found the shared creative process "magical."
While the Bacons are not their characters, screenwriter Dan Beers captured subtle aspects of their personalities in the script. For instance, the shared habit of secret cigarette smoking, unknown to the writer, mirrored the film's family dynamic. The family expressed a strong willingness to collaborate on future projects.
