Back to the Future: Where Are They Now?

Back to the Future continues to resonate 41 years after its release, with its beloved cast members forging diverse paths. Michael J. Fox, who originated the role of Marty McFly, has become a prominent advocate for Parkinson's disease research. His dedicated fundraising and awareness campaigns have earned him significant honors, including the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 2022 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2025.

Christopher Lloyd, famous for his portrayal of Dr. Emmett Brown, views the character as his most enduring role. He has continued a prolific career in film and television, appearing in projects like the Addams Family films and more recently in "Wednesday" and "Nobody 2" (2025).

Lea Thompson, who played Marty's mother Lorraine, has also maintained a consistent presence in television, with roles on "Switched at Birth" and "The Spencer Sisters." She is married to director Howard Deutch and has two daughters, Zoey and Madelyn, who are also actresses.

Crispin Glover, who played George McFly, has diversified his career into music and independent filmmaking through his company, Volcanic Eruptions. Thomas F. Wilson, who embodied the antagonist Biff Tannen, has continued in acting, stand-up comedy, and voice-over work, notably on "SpongeBob SquarePants."

Claudia Wells, who portrayed Marty's girlfriend Jennifer Parker, took a break from acting in the late 1980s but returned in 2008, appearing in several films. James Tolkan, who played the authoritarian Mr. Strickland, continued his television and film career until his passing on March 26, 2026, at age 94. Marc McClure, who played Dave McFly, has had numerous television and film appearances since the original film.
