The highly acclaimed German noir series "Babylon Berlin" is set to conclude with its final season. All eight episodes of the series finale will be available starting September 10th on the on-demand platform of German public broadcaster ARD. Additionally, the episodes will air in two four-episode blocks on September 19th and September 25th.
The show's concluding season is set during the tumultuous final days of the German republic in February and March 1933. This period captures the immediate aftermath of Adolf Hitler's appointment as Reich Chancellor and the elections that solidified his absolute power. Lead actors Volker Bruch and Liv Lisa Fries will reprise their roles as Gereon Rath and Charlotte Ritter for this final arc.
Launched in 2017 as one of the most expensive non-English dramas, "Babylon Berlin" garnered significant critical acclaim. The series, which previously aired its first three seasons on Netflix, found a new US home on MhZ Choice in 2024. To accompany the series finale, creators are releasing a themed video game, a making-of documentary, and an audio drama series.
