Groundbreaking German period drama Babylon Berlin has filmed its fifth and final season, concluding its 48-episode run. The neo-noir series, adapted from Volker Kutscher's novels, chronicles life in Berlin from the 1920s through the Weimar Republic's collapse and the Nazis' ascent.
The concluding season, an 8-episode arc, is set in February and March 1933, immediately following Adolf Hitler's appointment as Reich Chancellor. It depicts the violent campaign leading to elections that secured his absolute power. The plot reunites police detective Gereon Rath and investigator Charlotte Ritter for a final case.
