Baby Spice's Secret Height Trick Revealed

Emma Bunton, famously known as Baby Spice, shared the surprising reason behind her signature platform shoes. During an appearance on the Holly Willoughby Together show on August 14, Bunton, now 50, revealed that she wore exaggeratedly high shoes to her Spice Girls audition. She was initially too short to meet the group's 5'3" height requirement.

Bunton discovered the Buffalo brand shoes in a small shop in Covent Garden, London, to gain the necessary inches. While initially easy to dance in, the platform shoes became challenging during extensive travel, making performances feel like walking on stilts. She recalled a memorable fall during a concert while wearing them, with Madonna present in the audience.

The Spice Girls, including Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell-Horner, and Melanie Chisholm, became fashion trendsetters. However, Beckham noted in a 2025 documentary that the other members were less fashion-focused, allowing her a significant budget for designer pieces. The group recently celebrated the 30-year anniversary of filming their debut music video, 'Wannabe', in April.
