Summary

- The original film starred Diane Keaton as a career woman unexpectedly caring for a baby.
- Amazon MGM Studios is developing the new version as part of a first-look deal.

Director Michael Showalter is at the helm of a reimagining of the classic 1987 comedy 'Baby Boom.' The original film, a hit that starred Diane Keaton, followed a career woman whose life is upended when she becomes the guardian of an infant. This upcoming adaptation is being produced by Showalter's Semi-Formal and Stacey Sher's Shiny Penny, with Jordana Mollick also producing.
The remake arrives as a tribute, with the original film's star, Diane Keaton, having passed away last October. "Baby Boom" marked the first collaboration between Keaton and Nancy Meyers, who shared fond memories of their creative partnership. Meyers highlighted Keaton's unique ability to deliver both comedic and dramatic moments, making writing for her a deeply rewarding experience.
This project is part of a first-look feature film deal between Amazon MGM Studios and Semi-Formal Productions. Showalter's directorial work for Amazon MGM, "Oh. What. Fun.," is slated for release on Prime Video on December 3. The studio continues its strategy of bringing familiar stories to contemporary audiences.
