UNICEF India National Ambassador Ayushmann Khurrana recently visited Jalna, Maharashtra, to engage with children and communities. His visit focused on the Kinship and Community Care programme, an initiative designed to support children affected by seasonal migration by providing family- and community-based care.
During his visit to Chendai Tepli village, Khurrana met with schoolchildren for an after-school interactive session. He was accompanied by Jesper Moller, Deputy Representative of UNICEF India. Khurrana underscored that seasonal migration is often a harsh reality, not a choice, and stressed that no child should lose their childhood due to uncontrollable circumstances.
Khurrana also met young community leaders and a student volunteer, learning how migration impacts adolescent girls. He affirmed that India has strong child protection laws, such as the Juvenile Justice Act, but emphasized the need for these measures to reach every child, especially those facing seasonal migration challenges.
