Summary
- 'Avengers: Doomsday' set to release in December 2026
- Film to feature New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and returning X-Men
- 'X-Men' (2000) the only installment factoring into Multiverse Saga

As of September 28, 2025, Marvel fans are eagerly anticipating the release of 'Avengers: Doomsday' on December 18, 2026, which will serve as the first part of the Multiverse Saga's grand finale. The highly anticipated film is set to feature a star-studded cast, including several New Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the much-awaited return of Fox's X-Men.
According to reports, the 2000 'X-Men' film will be the only installment from the previous X-Men franchise that will factor into the events of the Multiverse Saga. This means that later entries such as 'X2,' 'The Last Stand,' 'Apocalypse,' and 'Dark Phoenix' will not impact the Marvel Cinematic Universe's storyline. The revised timeline altered by Wolverine in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' has effectively erased many of the events that took place in the subsequent X-Men films.
The confirmed characters set to appear in 'Avengers: Doomsday' include the iconic Professor Charles Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Beast, making this one of the biggest crossover events since 'Deadpool & Wolverine.' This focus on the original 'X-Men' (2000) film also serves as a tribute, as Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige began his career as an associate producer on that project.
