An exhibition in Glasgow is currently showcasing two rare volumes of John James Audubon's "Birds of America." The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG) has held these first-edition art treasures since 1838, when they were purchased for £48.
The public can now view these remarkable books, which contain over 200 life-size, hand-coloured images of North American bird species from the early 19th century. Experts consider the work the "absolute pinnacle of ornithological art," with each page measuring 3ft by 2ft, requiring two people to turn.
