The new drama series "The Audacity" has premiered, offering a darkly comedic look inside Silicon Valley's tech bubble. Creator Jonathan Glatzer described the eight-part show as akin to "Peyton Place" but set amongst tech innovators, exploring their warped dreams, outsized egos, and ethical lapses. The series delves into a world populated by jaded billionaires, psychiatrist-gurus, AI labs, and elite private schools, focusing on an audacious data-mining CEO's pursuit of profit and power.
The show confronts complex themes including reality, privacy, and the delusions fueling our rapidly changing world. It stars Billy Magnussen as the CEO and Sarah Goldberg as a therapist, with a cast including Zach Galifianakis, Lucy Punch, Simon Helberg, and Rob Corddry. Glatzer, drawing inspiration from his own upbringing with a psychiatrist mother, crafted a narrative that examines the human element behind the technology.
"The Audacity" is set to launch on AMC and AMC+ on April 12. AMC Networks Chief Content Officer Dan McDermott praised the series as "timely, insightful and wickedly authentic." The network greenlit the show rapidly after receiving Glatzer's script and even renewed it ahead of its premiere, highlighting AMC's strong belief in its potential.
