ATX TV Fest Launches Indie Pilot Competition

For its 15th anniversary in 2026, the ATX TV Festival is introducing a new Indie TV Pilot Competition and Showcase. This initiative is designed to support "independently-produced pilots without worldwide distribution," providing a platform for these creators to gain industry visibility and advance their projects. The festival aims to become a vital marketplace for independent television series.

The competition will screen selected pilot episodes, with a panel of industry professionals choosing a winner for the Best Indie TV Pilot award. This program directly addresses the growing trend of independent television production and the need for creators to find distribution and guidance. Mark Duplass, along with Duplass Brothers Productions, is onboard as a Strategic Advisor, bringing valuable experience and support.

Festival co-founders Caitlin McFarland and Emily Gipson expressed excitement about planting a flag for indie TV creators. They highlighted the festival's intentional moves in recent years to showcase independent shows and conversations. This new competition complements ATX TV's existing Pitch Competition & Mentorship Program, further solidifying its commitment to nurturing new talent in the television industry.
