Rebellion's critically acclaimed game, Atomfall, has officially been greenlit for a television series adaptation. The popular title, which has garnered over 3.7 million players since its launch last year and won Best British Game at the BAFTA Game Awards, is being developed by Two Brothers. The drama promises a distinctive British take on the post-apocalyptic genre, drawing inspiration from classic British sci-fi and folk horror.
The series will be set within a militarized Quarantine Zone in England's Lake District, established after a nuclear incident. This zone is based on the real-life 1957 Windscale nuclear plant disaster, the UK's most severe nuclear accident. The game's narrative follows a protagonist who awakens within the zone with no memory of their arrival, a theme that is expected to be explored in the television adaptation.
Two Brothers founders Harry and Jack Williams, renowned for their Emmy and Golden Globe-winning work, will pen the screenplay for the TV drama. They expressed excitement about expanding Atomfall's strange and unsettling story for a new medium. Rebellion's CEO and Creative Director Jason Kingsley, along with Co-founder and CTO Chris Kingsley, will serve as executive producers, emphasizing their confidence in the partnership with the Williams brothers.
