Atheist Filmmakers Defend Each Other's Beliefs: "Personal Views Shouldn't Matter"

In a surprising turn of events, acclaimed filmmakers Ram Gopal Varma and SS Rajamouli have come together to defend each other's personal beliefs. The news comes in the wake of the nationwide outrage sparked by Rajamouli's recent confession of being an atheist at the announcement event of his upcoming film Varanasi.

Varma, who is also an atheist, has expressed his support for Rajamouli, stating that a filmmaker's religious views should not be a matter of public concern. "Just because he makes films with a religious undertone, it doesn't mean he has to be a believer," Varma said. He further explained that his own experience of making films about ghosts does not mean he believes in the supernatural.

Varma emphasized that a filmmaker's personal beliefs should not come into the picture, as their primary role is to be a master storyteller. "Rajamouli is a master storyteller. His personal beliefs are nobody's concern," he asserted.

Interestingly, while Rajamouli has faced backlash for his atheism despite his religious-themed films, Varma has taken a different approach. Unlike Rajamouli, Varma has never made a film on religion or mythology, instead focusing on "godless" stories like Satya and Company.
