The film, set to shoot in Los Angeles early next year, will mark the feature directorial debut of Leah Rachel, who's working from a script written with Travis Jackson and Rachel Sennott. Jessamine Burgum and Kara Durrett are producing for Pinky Promise, alongside Plaza for Evil Hag Productions.
Alana Haim, who was recently nominated for four Grammys for her work with the pop rock band Haim, has secured the lead role in the upcoming biopic. Haim has also been seen in numerous major films, including Paul Thomas Anderson's Licorice Pizza and Kelly Reichardt's The Mastermind, and is set to star opposite Zendaya and Robert Pattinson in A24's The Drama.
