Asian 'Night Manager' Adds Star Power

The Ink Factory's Chinese-language adaptation of 'The Night Manager' has significantly expanded its cast. Veteran actor Michael Dao and rising star George Au are among the new additions, joining previously announced leads Eddie Peng and Sean Lau. This pan-Asian reimagining of John le Carré's spy novel is set to premiere on Youku in mainland China in late 2026.
The series shifts the espionage narrative to an Asian backdrop, with filming locations including Thailand, Macau, and Hong Kong. Eddie Peng stars as Jonathan Chan, a hotel night manager entangled in an arms-dealing tycoon's empire, while Isabella Leong plays the tycoon's girlfriend. Sean Lau portrays the powerful arms dealer.
Kelvin KinLong Chan directs the adaptation, written by Cheung Feifan and He Liangyu. The production aims to leverage both established and emerging Asian talent. Global sales outside of China are being managed by Fifth Season, with the series expected to be a significant draw at regional film markets.
