Broke on TV: Chelsea Star's Financial Struggle

Ashley James, a prominent TV personality, has disclosed the significant financial difficulties she faced during her tenure on the E4 reality series Made in Chelsea. James revealed that while participating in the show, she experienced her "poorest" financial period, living extensively "deep in her overdraft." This financial strain arose because she was compensated only £50 for each filming session. Furthermore, her on-call status for the show restricted her ability to accept other employment opportunities, exacerbating her financial predicament.

Despite appearing on a program celebrated for its depiction of wealth, James found herself residing in a friend's former home, a stark contrast to the on-screen affluence. She confessed that the initial allure of Made in Chelsea was the prospect of financial gain, yet the reality proved to be the opposite. James, however, maintains that she has "no regrets" regarding her decision to join the cast, acknowledging the platform it provided.

James has since built a successful television career, including a regular presence on ITV's This Morning. Recently, she shared that she has declined substantial career opportunities due to "mum guilt." She explained that separation anxiety has affected her son, Alfie, leading her to prioritize time with him and her daughter, Ada. James emphasized that while she is a "better mum" when pursuing passionate projects, the constant juggle and societal expectations on mothers are challenging.
