Asha Bhosle Reminisces Lata Mangeshkar's Legacy on Her 96th Birth Anniversary

On September 28, 2025, the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar would have celebrated her 96th birth anniversary. To mark this occasion, her sister and fellow veteran singer, Asha Bhosle, has shared heartfelt memories of their lifelong bond.

Asha expresses the deep connection she shared with her "didi" (elder sister), recalling their cherished childhood moments. She says, "The bond between two sisters is indeed very special. I miss her a lot, especially when I recollect all our childhood memories. She is and will always be my didi. She looked after me; she would pick me up, run around, and never let go. Those childhood memories are forever etched in my heart."

With Lata's passing, Asha feels a profound void. However, she remains grateful for the time they spent together and the musical legacy Lata left behind. When asked about the possibility of a biopic on their lives, Asha modestly suggests, "I think didi and I might need to be born again to play ourselves in the biopic. But from the actresses of today, maybe Kajol, Vidya Balan or Tabu could play us. Given that music defines our lives, the right person should ideally have musical knowledge and experience."
