Legendary singer Asha Bhosle was cremated with full state honours on Monday at Shivaji Park Crematorium in Mumbai. Her final rites were performed by her son Anand amid an emotional atmosphere and chants. Asha Bhosle, fondly known as Asha Tai, was wrapped in the tricolour and accorded a ceremonial gun salute by the Mumbai Police. Her mortal remains were earlier kept at her residence for public homage, drawing long queues of tearful fans and admirers. Prominent personalities from the film industry, including Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Riteish Deshmukh, paid their respects at the crematorium and her residence. Political leaders such as Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also attended. Singers Shaan and Sudesh Bhosale offered a musical tribute before the cremation. Asha Bhosle, an influential voice in Indian music for over eight decades, passed away on Sunday after being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital. She received prestigious awards, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008, for her immense contribution to music.
