An America 250 exhibit, titled "Echoes If We Listen: Native, Women and Black Patriots in Focus," has opened at the Clinton County Historical Association. The exhibition prominently features original, large-scale acrylic portraits by artist Clyde Rabideau.
Rabideau's work delves into the lives of Native, women, and Black patriots, meticulously researched for historical and cultural accuracy. These captivating portraits include a Mohawk warrior, a fierce portrayal of Molly Pitcher, and a Black Patriot, bringing to light individuals who played crucial roles but have often been overlooked.
Curated by Randi Christodoulou, the exhibit also incorporates period artifacts, replica items, and AI-generated imagery. This multi-faceted approach, including a video presentation, aims to provide a more complete narrative of the era's history and the significant contributions of these diverse groups.
The exhibit's creation was a year-long endeavor, with Christodoulou collaborating closely with her father, Rabideau. Their process involved deep research and creative interpretation to capture the spirit and accuracy of the subjects, ensuring their stories resonate today.
