- Actor's image and likeness were used for merchandise and promotions.
- AI-generated deepfake videos were among the infringing content.

The Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor, ordering a halt to the unauthorized exploitation of his personality and publicity rights. A suit filed by Kapoor led Justice Tushar Rao Gedela to issue an ex parte ad interim injunction against multiple defendants on April 29, 2026.
The court found that these defendants had been using Kapoor's name, image, and identity without authorization for commercial purposes. This included the sale of merchandise and promotion of events, clearly infringing upon his rights as his identity is a valuable asset built through his career.
Further, the order addresses the circulation of sexually explicit and abhorrent content, including AI-generated deepfake videos. The court acknowledged the violation of Kapoor's rights, noting the potential for irreparable damage to his image and personality.
Tech platforms such as Google and Meta have been directed to remove the infringing material and provide subscriber information for the responsible accounts. The court will hear the matter again on October 10, 2026.
