Summary
- Ariana Grande forced to cancel Brazil trip for 'Wicked For Good' premiere
- Plane maintenance issue grounds her flight, preventing her from attending
- 'Wicked For Good' is the sequel to the 2024 Oscar-nominated 'Wicked' film

On November 4th, 2025, pop star Ariana Grande revealed in an emotional Instagram post that she has been forced to cancel her trip to Brazil for the world premiere of the musical fantasy sequel "Wicked For Good." The cancellation came after a last-minute aircraft safety issue grounded Grande's flight just hours before the event.
"Brazil, I can't believe this is happening and I am beyond devastated to be sending this message," Grande wrote. She explained that her team and the studio had tried every possible option to get her to the premiere in time, including searching for alternative flights and even exploring private travel options. However, due to the necessary maintenance on the plane and the lack of available flights, there was no way for Grande to make it to the event.
The first "Wicked" movie, which was released in 2024 and received 10 Oscar nominations, was an adaptation of the first act of the hit 2003 Broadway musical. The sequel, "Wicked For Good," adapts the second act and has already generated early Oscar buzz.
Grande, who plays the role of Glinda in the film, urged her fans to "shower my incredible castmates with all of the love that I wish I could be showering you with and have the most beautiful celebration" at the premiere. The event marks Universal's first major international rollout for the highly anticipated sequel, with additional premieres scheduled for Paris, London, and Singapore in the coming weeks.
