On November 4th, 2025, the entertainment world is eagerly awaiting the release of 'Wicked: For Good', the highly anticipated continuation of the beloved 'Wicked' musical saga. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film will see Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo take on the iconic roles of Glinda and Elphaba, respectively.
According to Chu, the decision to split the 'Wicked' story into two films was driven by the need to fully explore the emotional depth and complexity of the characters' journeys. "It was clear when we separated the two movies that 'Wicked: For Good' needed some additional elements to fully tell the story of these two women and their struggle to come back together," he explained.
The film will pick up where the original 'Wicked' left off, with Elphaba, now branded as the Wicked Witch of the West, hiding in the forests of Oz and fighting for the freedom of its silenced Animals. Meanwhile, Glinda has ascended to the Emerald City palace, hailed as the embodiment of Goodness. As Glinda prepares to marry Prince Fiyero, she is tormented by her separation from Elphaba. When an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, the two women must reunite, rediscovering that the truest magic lies in empathy, honesty, and friendship.
