Summary
- Over 320 Arab film projects sought funding, with Egypt leading submissions.
- New initiatives address gaps in regional film financing and support.

This year's CineGouna Funding attracted over 320 Arab film projects, with Egypt submitting more than 100. The El Gouna Film Festival, running through October 23, introduced new initiatives to support the regional film industry.
Recognizing a lack of national film funds, limited co-production treaties, and volatile regional funding, CineGouna added Egyptian Voices for local projects. Over $350,000 in cash and services were awarded to 16 of the 19 participating projects.
CineGouna Emerge focuses on access for emerging filmmakers from Egypt, the Arab world, and Africa. This program has expanded to include mentorship, workshops, and industry meetings, creating a community for over 300 participants from 16 nationalities.
CineGouna Forum hosts panels and masterclasses, with discussions on producing challenges and the need for creative producers. The festival celebrated completed films from projects previously supported by CineGouna, showcasing a full circuit of development and exhibition.
