Apple TV+ is set to premiere "Safe Houses," a new eight-episode thriller series featuring Jennifer Connelly and Ana de Armas in lead roles. Inspired by Dan Fesperman's espionage novel, the series delves into a complex plot following the murder of a high-ranking CIA officer in Madrid.
Ana de Armas portrays Sofia Jiménez, a fugitive agent implicated in the crime, while Jennifer Connelly plays Ambassador Elizabeth Winters, the victim's widow. Both characters independently investigate the assassination, uncovering a vast conspiracy that threatens global stability.
Joining the principal cast are David Lyons as special ops CIA agent Kevin Garvey and Tobias Menzies as Clarke Winters, Elizabeth's husband. The series is developed by Gideon Raff, who will serve as showrunner and executive producer, directing multiple episodes.
Otto Bathurst is directing the series' opening block and also executive producing alongside Alexandra Milchan, Paul Lee, and David Flynn. The production is a co-venture between wiip and Apple Studios, with Adam Berkowitz, Mike Seid, Dan Dietz, and Namsi Khan serving as co-executive producers.
