Mystery Stalls Apple's Far-Right Infiltration Show
16 Feb
Summary
- Apple TV drama 'The Savant' mysteriously shelved months ago.
- Show was postponed after a far-right activist's assassination.
- Star Jessica Chastain expressed hope for future release.

Apple TV's drama series "The Savant," featuring Jessica Chastain, was abruptly pulled just days before its intended September 26th premiere last year. The show, which delves into the world of online far-right hate groups and investigative work, was shelved following the assassination of activist Charlie Kirk.
Five months later, the fate of the eight-part series remains unclear, with no official explanation provided by Apple TV for the postponement. Showrunners have also offered no indication as to when, or if, "The Savant" will eventually be released to audiences.
Jessica Chastain, the lead actress, previously expressed her surprise at the decision, stating it was made without her explicit blessing. She noted that while she respects Apple's choice to pause the release, she hopes the show will reach viewers soon.
The series is inspired by a 2019 Cosmopolitan article detailing a private investigator's efforts to monitor online behaviors for signs of violence. Chastain portrays a fictionalized version of this investigator, infiltrating online hate groups from her home.
