Apple Music Flags AI-Generated Tracks
20 Aug
Summary
- Apple Music will label songs derived from AI platforms.
- Labels will indicate if a material portion of content used AI.
- This follows similar moves by Spotify and Tidal.

Later this year, Apple Music will begin identifying songs on its platform that were created using artificial intelligence. A "Made With AI" label will be applied to such tracks, ensuring greater transparency for listeners.
Content providers will be required to tag songs where a material portion of the content was generated by AI. This policy update follows Apple Music's earlier introduction of AI Transparency Tagging in March, which integrates AI usage data into the service's systems.
This development is part of a broader industry trend. Spotify has started labeling AI-generated artist profiles as "AI Personas," while Tidal has introduced labeling for AI music and has banned these tracks from accruing royalties.
Industry groups, including the RIAA and the Grammys, have also advocated for a standardized labeling program. Apple Music vice president Oliver Schusser noted earlier this year that over a third of uploaded tracks could be entirely AI-generated, emphasizing the need for uploaders to take responsibility for AI disclosure.
