Summary
- Apne 2 sequel faces uncertainty after actor Dharmendra's passing.
- Original script for Apne 2 featured a major role for Dharmendra.
- Filmmakers may create a new story for Apne 2 sequel in 6-8 months.
The proposed sequel to the 2007 film Apne, titled Apne 2, faces significant uncertainty after the passing of veteran actor Dharmendra in November of last year. Filmmaker Anil Sharma and producer Deepak Mukut had offered contrasting views on the project's feasibility in the wake of this loss. Writer Neerraj Pathak, who penned the original Apne, confirmed that a script was indeed in development.
Pathak explained that Dharmendra had a crucial role in the initial Apne 2 script, making its direct continuation impossible. He stated that the team is still processing their grief. However, he also suggested that a new narrative could be crafted for the sequel. This reimagined version might be considered in approximately six to eight months, once sufficient time has passed, rather than attempting to rewrite the original script.
