Director Curry Barker will return to theaters on May 6, 2027, with his new horror-comedy, "Anything But Ghosts." This highly anticipated film is nearly one year after the successful release of Barker's breakout hit, "Obsession."
In "Anything But Ghosts," Barker not only directs but also stars as one of two fraudulent paranormal investigators. They are tasked by a family to deal with actual ghosts, leading to humorous and terrifying situations. The film also features Cooper Tomlinson, Bryce Dallas Howard, Aaron Paul, and Violet McGraw in key roles.
"Anything But Ghosts" is produced by Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and will be distributed domestically by Focus Features, with Universal handling international releases. The film is slated to open during a busy early May 2027 box office period, sharing the weekend with major releases like "The Legend of Zelda" and "The Resurrection of the Christ -- Part One."
Barker's previous film, "Obsession," achieved massive success, grossing $519 million worldwide against a small budget and acquisition price. This achievement has cemented Barker as a prominent figure in the horror genre, with "Obsession" becoming Focus Features' highest-grossing film. Cooper Tomlinson, Barker's longtime creative partner, also starred in and co-produced "Obsession."
